Employee Lifecycle Management

 

This term refers to an employee’s journey with the company. It is an HR model that pinpoints the different stages a worker advances through in an organization in, and the role HR plays in improving that progress. It is important to keep a track of an organization’s employee lifecycle as it gives employees a consistent series of steps through an individual’s career with a company, and giving employers an option to analyse data.

Defined stages in employee life cycle management overlap with key HR responsibilities and may include using talent management software.

The employee life cycle includes various stages in the career of an employee, starting with recruitment and ending with resignation, termination or retirement. The classic employee life cycle model has following five or six stages.

Recruit: This step involves all the processes leading up to and involving the hiring of a new employee.

Onboard: At this stage, employees who have accepted job offer become part of the Organizations’ manpower. During onboarding process, they are provided with the instructions and tools to work more organized and to integrate into the company culture.

Development: At this stage the employee is provided the feedback depending on his performance. Depending on his performance he is promoted to next level in the organization, he will get hike in the salary as well.

Retain: The next challenge is retaining the worker as after working for a certain period of time when the employee is integrated into the institution and has a good knowledge of his role; he becomes an important part of the organization.

Offboard: There may be some common reasons wherein the employee leaves the organization due to retirement, personal reasons, new job or he is terminated from the organization due to violating the institute policy. In this situation the HR department will follow a procedure and documentation in order to fulfil the offboarding process of the employee.
